One amazing music and dance form is the Flamenco which was widely assumed to be Spain’s national dance due to the connection people have formed of Spanish culture and Flamenco. Contrary to a number of peopls’s idea, Flamenco is only perceived famous in just one region; Andalusia, an autonomous community in Spain that is known for the origin of Flamenco as well as considered the second largest in terms of land area in Spain. Flamenco, an Andalusian accustomed folk music, has three parts; one is cante or song, the baile or dance and the guitarra or guitar. The inhabitants of Andalusia who were also supporters of the art form were largely illiterate and had no means of recording their own history; most were Jews, Moors and the likes who were, like Gypsies, regarded to be parts of the lower class of Spanish society. Unfortunately, most of the people from the Andalusian regions were of persecuted lineages, they were also mostly illiterate so they had no way of jotting down their own cultural beliefs for posterity; most of the history of Flamenco has been lost and greatly altered because it had only been passed on through oral tradition.
Historians and other experts until today are still researching the precise history and ancestry of Flamenco. However, one reality remains which is that Flamenco has influenced dance cultures worldwide.
