How to make plaster of paris OR something i can use to make fossils?

Basically, for art I'm thinking of making some fossils... yes I understand they takes years etc, but I want to make impressions and the only way I can think about it is by using clays or plaster of paris. If you have any ideas on how i can set stuff in a cementy/plaster mix, I would love to hear them! I'm planning on setting modern objects into it instead of the usually fossil like ones THANKYOU XXX

you go to the hardware store. You buy a bag of plaster. Prepare a form you want to pour the plaster into. Milk carton cut open would be an easy possibility.
You fill a bucket with water. Use a bit less than half the water you want the final volume of plaster to be. Pour some plaster into water until it doesn't sink and starts to make a little mountain. Stop pouring and mix. Mix is ready to use. Pour into form you want to fill.

if you want to directly press objects into plaster (hollow form) you can do that if you wait until it is sufficiently set but not yet hard.

Clean plaster bucket from excess plaster. Never pour liquid plaster down a drain. As long as it is not much it can be easier to let the plaster set and clean up when hard.
