Lord Shiva question : mantra explanation help needed.?

I just found one of Lord Shiva's mantras that I hadn't previously encountered. Can someone please?
take a few minutes to explain the difference in meaning between Om Namah Shivaya and Om Namah Shivaya Gurave? From what I understand, Gurave is acknowledging Lord Shiva as a part of us, inside of us, and the first mantra acknowledges Lord Shiva as more separate from ourselves??

There is no direct translation.

Om Namah Shivaya Gurave.

I offer myself to lord shivaya
