Getting Lincoln Logs Building Sets For Your Kids
Lincoln Logs building sets were in kid's bedrooms for nearly a century, and although some elements of the pieces and the presentation have been altered, there will be little difference between the Lincoln Log sets now available in stores and the Lincoln Logs with which our grandparents may have played. These little logs could be a wonderful legacy to give to our own youngsters, particularly if we could likewise offer them the story of how these logs turned into such classics. Another good alternative is the Razor Dune Buggy Kart.
Around the early days of the 20th century, America had an architect called Frank Lloyd Wright. He wasn't crucial to this adventure, however. Frank had a son whom he named John Lloyd Wright, and they both enjoyed a visit to Tokyo during the time that John was quite young. While on that trip, he watched the earthquake-proof Imperial Hotel as it was being put together, and observed that the foundation appeared to be comprised of sturdy, interlocking beams a lot like the notched logs which the previous century's pioneers used to create log cabins.
By 1916, that attentive young man launched a series of interlocking toy logs which included wooden windows, doors and roof frames, and labeled them Lincoln Logs. The success of this particular toy was brought on by current societal trends combined with the young man’s innovation. That same decade saw the first sets of tinker toys and erector sets, as well as the building and subsequent sinking of the Titanic. The success of Lincoln Logs and other construction toys was caused directly by America’s increasing romance with the delights we were convinced we could assemble. Another great product to consider is the Razor Dune Buggy Kart.
Sales of Lincoln Logs peaked by the latter 20s and sufficiently made it through the hard times before and during the War. The mid-century baby boom set the stage for an additional sales increase for these sturdy educational toys, and the Cowboy craze during the early 50s simply made these little log cabins actually more trendy. Lincoln Logs became one of the earliest toys to be promoted on a television show, the Pioneer Playhouse in 1953.
Throughout the 60s and 70s, some parts were slowly replaced by cheaper plastic, until merely the logs continued to be wooden. Currently, Lincoln Logs has set about producing all-wood sets again.
The company presently produces two kinds of sets; their “Nostalgia” collection comprised of nothing but wood parts, “Just like you remember,” and also the “Classic” collection that contains real wood logs and colorful plastic accessories including chimneys, roofs and toy people. The kits cost between about $20 and $40 and might be ordered on the web or at select stores. Another nice is the Razor Dune Buggy Kart.
