Uses And Drawbacks To Using Marble Paving
If you people are going to pave something marble is not usually the first material they think of. However, if you give it more thought you may realize that marble paving is more common than you think. Most people only think of things they travel on as items that get paved using some sort of material. However, paving can also be done in buildings and as part of building a monument.
There are a few very good reasons why marble isn't a popular paving material choice. Marble isn’t used for roads even though it is a strong material and marble isn’t used to actually create most buildings even though it is quite beautiful. One of the reasons is that you need someone with quite a bit of skill to work with marble.
Another reason why you don’t see as much marble is because it is an expensive material to work with. Usually you only see marble in the homes and buildings that are quite nice. You won't see marble in the average home because it is just too expensive to use for most people. However, the expense is only just one reason people don't use the marble paving.
Another reason that marble isn't uses for paving is because it creates such a slippery surface. Usually when you see marble used it is an a column, or a counter top, a statue or some other kind of monument and not as walkway or a stairway. Wet, polished marble is about as slick a surface as you are going to find. People don't want to take a chance on their walkway becoming a hazard so they usually avoid paving with marble for this reason as well.

Marble is a beautiful material that is really best used when it is used sparingly. It is a material that you should not use too much of and that is really just impractical for most situations. In most cases it is just easier to stick with the common paving materials like concrete and even asphalt as opposed to marble.
