Making The Most Out Of Office Space
Do you dread getting up for work in the morning? Are you sick of spending your days in a stuffy office, counting down the minutes until it’s time to go home? Yes, in an ideal world we wouldn't have to go to work. We'd all be living the high life without a care in the world. But let's face it, that's never going to happen. If anything, with the recession we're all having to spend even more time at work than we did before, just to make ends meet.
So what are we supposed to do about it? How can we improve what we can’t change? Well, to start with an office shouldn't be a place that makes you feel unhappy. It should be a comfortable space where you can feel at ease and able to work without feeling like the walls are closing in. If going in to work makes you feel like that, maybe it's time to give your office a makeover.
Even large offices can be depressing if they're cluttered and badly organised. Far too often, offices are packed full of lots of unnecessary furniture and desks cluttered with machinery that could be better kept elsewhere. You might think you have no alternative but office suppliers have all sorts of useful office furniture that can help you to maximise your space and get your office looking sleek, comfortable and modern at the same time. As with bedroom furniture, there are right and wrong pierces to use in different spaces.
Take the opportunity to think about what you really want from your workspace - would you benefit from a bigger desk, more storage, a new filing system? Do you need new chairs for workers, or somewhere to keep your printer/copier away from your personal workspace? Perhaps you feel your office needs a complete redesign to maximise the space better. Whatever problems you have in your workspace, there will be a solution to suit you.
Think carefully about your own comfort and needs and those of others working in the space. You can get a huge range of ergonomically designed office furniture purposely made to make staff more comfortable at work. Ergonomic seating and workstations are designed to help prevent the common injuries that office workers can often suffer from, such as lower back pain and RSI. This means staff will be generally healthier and happier, and take less time off with medical problems that could ahve been avoided.
Make sure you leave things as uncluttered as possible, that everyone has sufficient storage so desks aren't messy and that the furniture is arranged in the best way to maximise what space you have. Your office will feel much more open and comfortable, and you’ll all feel better about spending so much time there. And you won't feel like the walls are closing in! Just like white wardrobes and white bedside tables can help make your room at home light and airy, the same is also true of office furniture.
You're probably thinking it all sounds like a lot of effort, or that it could be a bit expensive doing up a space you only work in! But think about it. How much happier would you be knowing that you were coming in to work each day to a sleek, uncluttered, aesthetically pleasing space, ergonomically designed to accommodate you and your needs. Not to mention healthy, happy workers make for a more productive environment – look at it as a business investment!
