Throughout the centuries, the dragon has symbolized magical realms and established lively traditions in Europe and throughout the Orient. The Chinese believed that dragons were the keepers of good fortune and some philosophers and practitioners of feng shui believed that they possessed spiritual, even magical, powers and they were connected to the natural elements of the universe.
Although it has had this philosophical dimension, the dragon has been used in art and design in myriad ways; it has also been used as a focus for architecture. The dragon has been crafted into statuary, sculpture, pillars, and facades—and yes, fountains.
You can install a dragon fountain in to a variety of overall designs depending on what use you have in mind. As mentioned earlier, the dragon has a ancient relationship to wealth and general good fortune. This concept has been taken from feng shui beliefs and transposed with its reverence for water features. The idea of having a dragon fountain combines the mystical qualities of the creature with the refreshing presence of running water.
With European-style dragons, you may have winged beasts posed menacing, but rather than fire pourin from their mouths, there would be a gentle stream of water. Chinese dragon fountain may be used as colorful water features in Zen gardens.
The dragon fountain, like other fountains, is made in a variety of models and materials. You can buy both tabletop styles and larger, freestanding models via home and garden centers and internet-based suppliers as well.
The real question you should ask yourself is whether you think the dragon fountain could be a great stylistic match with your chosen space, be it a garden or a room in your home. Naturally, you should decide if you like the European-style dragon fountain or the Oriental dragon fountain.
As you look you should notice that there can be significant differences in the quality a dragon fountain, depending on type, the construction materials, and where you purchase it. Even though there are several fine businesses selling quality fountain, there are also a fair number of inexpensive novelty dealers selling fountains made of cheap materials.
This aspect of the search is critical because it helps you decide what you want and how much you will pay to have the right dragon fountain for your garden. Once you have found a few different fountains that meet your aesthetic needs and cost limitations, you can do more research to narrow down the options until you find the dragon fountain that is the very best one for you.
