Making Scrapbooks With Online Images
Now that so many good scrapbook supply designers are Web savvy, there's an abundance of free scrapbook papers. As long as you know how to do an Internet search and download files, you can have an almost endless supply of designs to create beautiful scrapbooks. That caused famous artist Mary Englebreit to remark recently that the Internet is so overflowing with terrific free digital scrapbooking images, it can provide almost any type of images you might need. And she's an authority on quality images; products with her graphics on them fly off the shelves as soon as they're released!
The following are some samples of the types of free scrapbooking supplies I've found on the Web:
Babies and Children
As is the case with wedding ceremonies, the birth and growth years of a little one often generate a lot of pictures. And what scrapbooker wouldn't want to pass down a distinctive baby scrapbook to her child as he or she gets older? Fortunately, this can be done for next to nothing using just scrapbooking images from the Internet. If you're not up on baby images, however, you might be surprised to learn that the colors are less traditional than they used to be. Chocolate brown, burnt orange and red are popular, as are various shades of green. Of course, you can still find lots of blue and pink, but these days there are many bold color choices too. And for older children, there is a lot of free clip art that portrays a range of special interests, like gymnastics images and free football clip art.
Vintage
More and more people seem to be searching for vintage scrapbooking designs. Maybe that's because vintage art is so timeless and doesn't date the final product to any particular modern era. Greeting cards from times long gone make perfect vintage scrapbooking embellishments, as do clip art images from years gone by. And if you're lucky enough to find vintage designs on digital scrapbooking papers, you'll experience digital meeting traditional in a beautiful and useful way. Antique art also covers a range of subjects, including images as diverse as vintage perfume labels, magician posters, Victorian fashion illustrations, vintage seed packets images, vintage cats and sailing ships. So whatever the topic of your scrapbook, you can probably find antique art to match.
Holidays
The holidays are great subjects for scrapbooks, since those are the times we gather with friends and family to create special memories. And Christmas, Easter, Halloween and Valentine's Day aren't the only holidays that make people want to create scrapbooks; many people are interested in the minor holidays too. You can find lots of patriotic scrapbooking papers and embellishments online for holidays such as Veterans Day, Fourth of July, Memorial Day and Flag Day. You can also find Earth Day clipart suitable for Earth Day, and images for Mother's Day, Father's Day and any other holiday you can think of; even the silly or off-beat ones.
Floral and Butterfly
I've definitely noticed that scrapbookers love flowers, and who can blame them? They work for nearly any occasion. Butterflies attract a large audience too, because they bring to mind so many things we love: freedom, summertime and other happy things. Flowers and butterflies are also diverse, because you can find them in both illustration and photographic form, and in modern and vintage forms. There are even butterfly images that sometimes even have coordinating modern and vintage designs available in the same collections.
Wedding Images
Scrapbooks and weddings are a natural combination, because wedding photo albums have always been traditional anyway. But a wedding scrapbook can offer an even more creative way to preserve your precious memories. There is a surprisingly good selection of wedding scrapbook images on the Web that will allow you to create a lasting memento for little or no cost. And if you can't find any specifically for weddings, flower images would also be a great choice.
So the next time you go looking for scrapbooking materials, check out what's available on the Internet. You might find some amazing free things.
