The Best Art Galleries Close To Venice Hotels
There is no where else in the world that is quite like Venice. For those that want to find out more about the culture of Venice, head to one of the city's many art galleries. The city is not only home to some of the best examples of Renaissance art, sculpture and architecture, but also has some brilliant modern art on display. Most of the Venice hotels are close to the art galleries, so you won't have to get lost on a maze of canals to find the best galleries.
Don't leave Venice without going to the Accademia Gallery. Found on the Campo della Carità, here you can see paintings dating back from the 14th century. Here you can see art by Titian, Longhi and Bellini, amongst many other notable painters from this period. Even if you’re not a fan of Renaissance art, you will be bowled over by the ornate ceilings and marble columns. This prestigious art gallery is well worth a visit.
The Peggy Guggenheim Collection is the place to come for modern art in Venice. Here you can find some of the great masters of the 20th century displayed here including Motherwell, Kandinsky, Picasso, and Pollock. Found on the Calle San Cristoforo, it is close to some of the best Venice hotels in the city centre.
The Ravagnan Art Gallery is the place to come for new and exciting art by new artists. This gallery is known for being one of the first to pick up on new movements in the art world, as well as displaying the work of young artists. Here you can see the sculptures, paintings and installations of modern artists including Aron Demetz, Andrea Vizzini and Primo Formenti. This is only a few minutes walk from St Mark’s Square, so isn’t difficult to find if you stay in one of the central Venice hotels. Make the most of your time in Venice and explore as many art galleries as possible.
