Reproduction Antique French Furniture - What to look for
For those of us who cannot afford Period French Antique Furntiure, then your only real option is to purchase reproduction Antique French Furniture. Period French furniture has its own look, feel and overall presence and to reproduce this grandeur and elegance takes the skill of a master cabinet maker. Things you need to ask yourself when considering the purchase of Reproduction French furntiure are as follows:
1. Are the veneer's used of the very best quality?
2. Does the furniture have authentic Marquetry Inlays consistent with the period?
3. Are the fittings Ormolu or Silver / Gold coated resin or are they made from the very best cast Bronze (Ormolu)?
4. Are the legs Cabriole, Cabriole with a "C" scroll reverse Knee?
Well, for most of us the answers to these questions just aren't as easy to find as you would expect. Every single period of Antique French Furniture design has its own particular ideosynchratic features. For example, LOUIS XV furntiure has it's main design features as slim, slender and feminie elements such as the delicate Cabriole leg, of which there are over 5 different types. Other main features are the use of "C" and "S" scroll elements and also the use of Shell motifs so typical of high Rococo design.
Our reproduction Antique furniture is completely HAND MADE. Each piece is totally authentic in design and they feature with some of the most incredible veneering and Marquetry work you will ever see. All fitments are made of Cast Ormolu Bronze and are all totally authentic in period and style.
