Rap Act THE HISTORY OF HIPHOP
Hip Hop Music
The roots of hip hop can be traced to an array of musical styles which existed before it was conceived. A common feature of all these styles is the fact that they all had borrowed inspiration from African inspired musical styles. Some of these parent styles include African-American gospel, folk, jazz, blues and R&B. Afro-Caribbean styles such as calypso, salsa, soca, ska and reggae can also be cited as the earliest influences for the birth of hip hop music. What remains in question therefore, is the process of how these different genres inspired the birth of a form of music that has garnered as many fans as critics.

If you are one among those people, visit one in every of the video sites above and check it out for your self. If not, you could be missing out on some wonderful data.
Let’s cover some practical tips.
The history of hip hop begins in the early 16th century, when natives of West Africa were being transported to North and South America where they were condemned to work as slaves for the rest of their lives. These Africans brought with them oral and music traditions to their new lands. These traditions were transmitted down through each succeeding generation and changed into a form of resistance for the slaves as well as a unifying source of comfort. These later turned into spiritual songs which were then referred to as negro-spirituals and ballads. These songs have prevailed up to the present as popular hymns.
Gradually, as the slaves adopted the Christian religion and began forming their own churches, this style of music that had originated from West Africa gave rise to a response rhythm between a congregation and the presiding minister. Simultaneously, styles of music such as jazz, blues and soul began permeating this musical culture of the south where a large population of blacks was found.
A mixture of these musical forms was introduced into Jamaica during the 2nd World War by virtue of the American soldiers who were posted in the Caribbean. Reggae was the predominant musical style present in Jamaica at the time as well as a widely practiced concept known as versioning. Versioning took place once an artiste created and recorded a hugely popular song. This popularity would precipitate other artistes to arise and create different versions out of it. This is similar to what is termed as sampling in hip hop.
Important strategy: An article directory is a great location to discover Hip Hop Music info. An article directory is often a database where experts post their articles on many different themes. Here are some article directories: abcarticledirectory.com or isnare.com
In Jamaica, DJs were hugely popular and they would set up temporary discos in rented buildings or even the streets. This was a very competitive activity and this competitive nature gave rise to the concept of toasting. Toasting referred to a DJ doing either improvised or scripted talking while a song was playing. This talking mostly involved taking swipes at the other rival DJs. Toasting gave rise to two types of reggae known as talk over and dub. Talk over referred to the recording of a DJ toasting a particular tune. Dubs added the use of sound effects such as echo and treble to talk over.
This knowledge of dubbing and toasting was brought to the streets of West Bronx, New York by a 13-year old Jamaican immigrant known as Clive Campbell. Armed with a huge sound system and the stage name of Kool Herc, Campbell became a DJ. As a rap DJ, he would rap using the microphone over a tune while making in-house references. The foundation of hip hop was thus laid as this practice spread in Brooklyn Manhattan.
